Chag Saveah
A nationwide campaign for the distribution of food parcels to the needy which takes place every year before the Jewish New Year and at Passover. The campaign began in 2003 and over the years has expanded and now provides food parcels to thousands of needy families. The campaign is led by pupils from the Migdal Ohr with IDF soldiers, employees from Israel’s leading companies and thousands of additional volunteers.
Receiving For Giving
The Chag Saveah of the Children campaign started as a local initiative of students from the Migdal Ohr school in Migdal HaEmek who wanted to give something back to society by providing food parcels to children, similar to them, but who were in financial need. The Migdal Ohr students have learned that when you receive something you have to be able to give something back to society. This local initiative grew, over the years, into an important and national campaign.
Migdal Ohr helps tens of thousands of needy families throughout the country ahead of the holidays. For more than a decade, the organization has been holding the Chag Saveah for Children campaign, in which volunteers from all over the Israeli spectrum – secular, ultra-Orthodox, soldiers, school children, celebrities, politicians and members of Knesset – take part.
The spirit of giving and love of Rabbi Grossman unites all around him with the joy of doing and helping others.
